Spectral Domain Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT).

This imaging device is like having a CAT or MRI scan of the eye. Allowing us to see, the previously unseen.

OCT can image the anterior segment (cornea, iris, intraocular lens) and the posterior segment, ie. the retina and optic nerve head. OCT allows us to see all the cellular layers, and not just the surface as with a retinal photograph.

This technology is available as part of an extented advanced sight examination, and is available to all. We would encourage every one to avail themselves of this technological advance in eyecare.

OCT records and compares all your scan data from one visit to the next, therefore, offering you the chance to pick up even the slightest change in ocular health. This is potentially sight saving!

OCT takes an extra 15 to 20 minutes to carry out on top of the 30 minute Standard eye examination, and costs a small extra fee. We have invested in this technology, because we care very much about our patients health.

OCT is not part of an ordinary eye test.
